My ducks are Black Indian Runners. I purchased my ducks in 2003. I got the ducks to try something new at the fair. I picked them because no one else had them at the fair. I started out by receiving six ducks and two of them passed on. The rest of them had nine ducklings. Then nine of them passed on, so I only have four left. I am getting ten more soon for the fair. To get the ducks ready for showmanship I have to wash them then put baby oil on there legs, feet and bill. In showmanship you stand at a table with your bird in front of you. When it's your turn you tell the judge about your bird. After everybody has gone the judge asks you questions. The judge also goes around and looks at your bird through the cage and gives them a ribbon. The first year I took poultry I got third place in Junior Showmanship. Last year I got first place in Junior Showmanship and third place in Senior Showmanship.
