Gargoyle’s Apprentice Once, on a dark and stormy night, a gargoyle was born. But it wasn’t like any other gargoyle, it wasn’t granite, it was a rare gargoyle made out of Mica. So, of course, her mom named her Mica. She was always different when she was growing up. She didn’t want to scare people; she always wanted to help them. But she always scared them away. When she was in the fifth grade, everybody was mean to her because she was so different. Then one day when they were being more mean than they usual are to her sparks shot out of her fingers and every body fell asleep. It is a strange thing magic. Sometimes you should never get involved with it. Unless it involves medicine, Mica’s mother, Rose quartz, will not have it in her house. She never even spoke of it. But when she found out that her own daughter had magic in her, she was going to do every thing to squash it right out. Mom, why am I so different? asked Mica through mind talk (that’s the way gargoyles talk to each other.) Honey, I don’t know, maybe your going through the Simsonatia stage, the one when you don’t turn into a mean an ugly witch. Mama don’t be silly, I am not going through the great depression. I don’t know, her mom replied sadly . She had not told Mica that she had magic in her, and the one thing Rose quartz hated the most was lying. The next day Mica refused to go to school. Her mom did not object. She decided to home school her . After school (at home) she went for a walk. She met her friend Squirlly. He is a squirrel. “Hia!” said Squirlly. Hi, said Mica without enthusiasm. “What’s wrong?” he asked, sitting on his haunches. I think my mom is hiding something from me, Mica replied. “Like what?” he asked questioningly. Then, out in the distance, a huge black shape came hurtling at them. It was a Danielsin. Danielsin’s are vicious creatures that like to feed on young gargoyles. They have a snake like head, and the wings like a bat and it’s body, a horse. “I’m gone!!!” yipped Squirlly quickly running into a nearby tree. It’s ok Squirlly. I know how to handle these things. The Danielsin sprang forward, but instead of hitting it between the eyes, which is it’s weakest point, Mica sent a shower of sparks and the Danielsin fell to the ground wrapped in cobwebs. “WOW!” yipped the exited squirrel. WOW! exclaimed Mica, I didn’t know I could do that! “Hello,” said a strange voice behind them, “I saw what you did, and I would like to invite you to the Gargoyles Apprentice...” By: Queen of the Elves, Galadriel (Taylor M.) |
