Mr. Williams Class Elementary Middle School Student Classroom Expectations Potomac Blackfoot Valley Missoula Montana Student Classroom
Expectations

Things you Need to Know and Have :

•  You will need to make a section in your 3-ring notebook to keep your science / literature notes and papers. You will also be assigned a file folder in the classroom to help keep these papers.

•  At the end of each trimester you will create a science/literature notebook log. This will be a collection of all your assignments, write-ups, observations and thoughts. This will be graded each quarter so be careful not to loose these materials . The purpose of this is to allow you a source to review and study from. It will also give you a backup it you do not agree with the grade that I have recorded.

•  Any textbook that are assigned to you during the entire year must be covered at all times. You are RESPONSIBLE for it. There will be periodic checks for points on this being done. Any marks made in it or damage will result in a fine.

•  A pencil will be needed for charts graphs etc. Black, Blue or lead pencil are the only colors accepted for homework. Assignments written in "fancy colors i.e. colored gel pens, metallic pens" will not be accepted or graded. It is just to hard on my eyes to read some of those colors.

•  The class point distribution will consist of roughly the following. 35% quizzes and tests, and 65% labs, homework, papers, notebooks, oral presentations, group & individual projects and classroom participation.

•  Class grading scale is as follows:

90 - 100% = A               80 - 89% = B

70 - 79%   = C                60 - 69% = D

  • There is no reason to earn anything less than a C. I will ride you if you're in the D - F area. I want you to succeed so ask if your having problems or don't understand something. I am here to help you.

•  All assignments and papers need the following information in the heading:

First Name   Last Name
Period / Class
Date

Title of lab / paper or assignment

  • Please put both your last and first name on your paper. Points will be deducted for no headings or information on the paper.

Be on Time "Tardy Policy"

  • Students are expected to be in their assigned seat at the start of class. At this time you need to get out your materials needed to be productive in class.

  • You will be allowed two tardys per grading period. Every succeeding tardy will result in work determined by Mr. Williams and yourself.

  • If continued tardies are received parents will be notified and a conference will be scheduled.

Classroom Rules:

  • Observe and follow all school and classroom posted rules.

  • When you have something to say please raise your hand and be recognized before you start to speak. Be considerate and listen to others when they are talking.

  • DO NOT THROW ANYTHING TO ANYONE OR ANYWHERE in the classroom unless the teacher tells you to throw it.

  • Do not wear hats, sunglasses or headphones in class.

  • Do not write on tables, chairs, desks or walls. If you decide to do this you will scrub all classroom furniture. Respect your surroundings they are there for your benefit.

  • Don't sharpen your pencil when the teacher is talking or other student is teaching or sharing information in a presentation.

  • Do not rock on your chair or you will stand. I do not want you falling backwards and hurting your brain or body. Yes I know a person that happened to.

  • Do not make rude remarks or put downs. Do not use the phrase "shut up". You will be assigned to write 50 "nice" words if "shut-up" is heard. This also goes for the put downs and mean comments.

  • Do not push, hit or horseplay in class. This is another pet peeve and could put yourself and others in danger if you do this in class.

  • Fighting and profanity will not be tolerated . Students will be sent immediately to the office and parents contacted.

  • For your safety do not turn on equipment, gas or open windows without permission from the teacher. If it is off or closed there most likely is a reason. Please ask.

If you have any questions of just want to talk please don't hesitate to ask.
